Better Homes for All

A Labour-led Cherwell District Council would:

  • within 12 months: amend the Local Plan and raise the number of affordable homes in housing developments from 30% to 50%.
  • within 2 years: completely renew how the council register landlords, inspect properties and enforce standards in the private rental sector.
  • within 3 years: launch an innovative new co-operative housing initiative to provide genuinely affordable homes for residents.
  • prioritise: ending rough-sleeping in our district.

A Better Environment for All

A Labour-led Cherwell District Council would:

  • within 6 months: host a Citizens Assembly on Climate Change to engage the whole community.
  • within 3 years: adopt the ‘merton rule’ where new developments are required to generate at least 10% of their energy needs from on-site renewable energy.
  • within 10 years: go further than current plans by demanding carbon zero licensed taxis and pushing for the same with buses.
  • prioritise: beating, not ‘meeting’ government targets on zero-Carbon

A Better Community for All

A Labour-led Cherwell District Council would:

  • within 6 months: put mental health and well-being at the top of the council’s agenda as we recover from COVID-19.
  • within 5 years: prioritise Neighbourhood Plans focused on improving Bicester, Banbury, Kidlington and our villages in consultation with the local communities in which we all live.
  • prioritise: the full recovery of our town centres.
